SUMMARY  As a Data Center Architect, you will be responsible to provide technical leadership, drive innovation, and apply industry best standards and patterns to solve complex cloud problems, and design Data Center Infrastructure Architecture. The right candidate will have knowledge of server, storage, backup, power, virtualization software and networking, as well as operating systems and applications commonly deployed in Enterprise Data Centers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Data Center Lead updates to the design standards and specifications to support consistency and internal stakeholder alignment. Research new designs, materials and construction methods for data center deployments Balance short-term priorities while understanding and tracking industry standards and emerging trends to drive long-term strategy. This may include performing research and developing analysis on new technologies and alternate materials, building models of cost and environmental impact, implementing pilots of new approaches, and presenting recommendations Communicate and collaborate with key leadership and stakeholders across IT to share, develop and execute on the Firm's data center design/deployment strategies Work on Infrastructure services, strategy and design, and participate in building compute, storage, network, and security infrastructure in a global data center environment Participate in the design process, and work with engineering staff to develop infrastructure requirements Assist in implementation planning and capacity management, optimizing the platform for performance, reliability, and cost Lead the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to develop enterprise architecture requirements Research, evaluate, and recommend infrastructure technologies that can be applied to solving business challenges and new opportunities Act as a sounding board and consultant to IT and business leaders in the development of IT solutions Document architectural standards and technology framework Storage Area Network Responsible for all management functions associated with storage services, including multiple vendor arrays (EMC, IBM, and Pure Storage Solutions). Performs best practices for all storage arrays, including: disk groups, RAID implementations, LUN sizing, volume configuration and allocation, and end to end connectivity via appropriate transport mechanism ( Examples: Fibre channel, iSCSI, NFS, etc. ) Collaborates with other departments (Example: Wintel, Software Development, etc.) to determine proper storage solutions architecture to fit business needs. Performs best practices for security policies: LUN security and mapping, World Wide Name and port changes, Zoning and domain management, RAID assignments. Understands and implements a variety of disk continuity. Conducts IT Service continuity management, including the monitoring of: data movement and replication, backup and recovery (including integration to backup scripts), business resumption planning (DR) including data integrity tests Responds to daily Advanced Storage Administration issues and changes, including but not limited to: disk space, I/O, data backup and recovery Creates documentation to map out and document the data process flow as data comes into and leaves the network storage devices to ensure secure communication between devices. Works closely with department staff to ensure storage, network and server solutions to meet business needs. Monitors and trends storage subsystem performance characteristics and makes optimization adjustments based on projected needs. Ensures proper lifecycle management of storage devices, including implementation of new storage systems, migration between storage systems, and decommissioning of EOL storage systems. Responds to and resolves escalated customer-related issues. Provides 24x7 support for critical systems. This position requires off-hours support if critical systems fail or require maintenance. Virtualization Infrastructure Installs, manages, and monitors Virtualization Infrastructure, including but not limited to VMware and vSphere. Installs, deploys, and monitors virtual systems, both Linux and Windows. This includes system configuration from hypervisor to OS or application owner layers. Demonstrates a proficiency in designing, deploying and securing server class operating systems, including both Linux and Microsoft systems. Serves as a system administrator when needed to help with complex company projects. Provides remote desktop architected solutions to remote call center workers and ensures five nine availability of remote solution. Security Manages the network storage and Virtualization Infrastructure to ensure that ABC security posture is always in a state to repel malicious activities and offer all ABC services as required by the business. Ensures all areas of responsibility are in compliance with all applicable laws and industry regulations (PCI-DSS, HIPPA, SSAS 16 etc.) as well as overall best practices. Assists in the implementation of ABC's comprehensive Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs; including assisting in documenting, testing and modifying the companies DR/BC plan Serves as a member of the computer emergency response team as outlined in the Information Technology Security Policy. Other Duties as Required Provides training to users - sometimes one-on-one, sometimes in groups, and provides written guidelines and instructions to ABC staff when needed. Promotes and ensures cross-department cooperation. Works closely with other departments/organizations to analyze requirements or solve problems. Works closely with other IT/SD teams for problem resolution and project coordination. Researches, develops and maintains solid business relationships with related IT vendors. Participates in the hiring process for assigned areas. Perform other duties as assigned by manager or management Regular and reliable attendance required.                   QUALIFICATIONS Storage Area Networks experience (Enterprise class storage arrays, HBA configuration, fibre-channel cabling, Port or WWN zoning, etc.), including EMC SAN experience. Advanced knowledge of Virtualization platforms, including Vmware vSphere. Advanced knowledge of server class Linux and Windows systems. In depth understanding of TCI/IP, OSI, VOIP, VPN, Microsoft and Linux platforms. Must have an in-depth and thorough understanding of routing and routed protocols. Must have a mastery of TCP/IP and the OSI model for sound layer 7 to layer one trouble shooting. Must be proficient in diverse types of backup techniques Must possess effective critical thinking skills that will allow ABC to quickly recover from downtime and be able to solve issues using root cause analysis using ABC's Incident Response process. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies. The ability to collaborate with non-technical individuals in order to understand and deploy solutions that meet business needs.            EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum Education: AS in computer science or related field Preferred Education: BS in computer science w/emphasis on IT security Preferred Certifications: Storage (EMC), Virtualization  (VCP, VCAP),  Microsoft (MSCA), Networking (Network+, CCNA,CCNP), Red Hat Cert (RHCA, RHCE) Minimum Experience: 5 years in IT / 2 years in IT Security/Networking. Preferred Experience: 8 years in IT / 4 years in IT Security. Experience with PCI-DSS. Experience developing data center migration strategy and key components of a data center migration. DCIM, DC environmental / power management, structured cabling is required.
